A visit visa is permission to seek entry
ICA treats an approved visa as permission to travel to Singapore and ask for entry. It is not an immigration pass, and officers at the checkpoint decide whether to admit you.
🇹🇯Visit visas and transit rules for passports issued by Tajikistan
An ordinary Tajik passport needs a Singapore visa for a holiday, a family visit or a business trip. A narrower arrangement, the 96-hour Visa-Free Transit Facility, can apply when Singapore is only a stopover between two other countries. This guide separates the two, then walks through the documents, translations and timing for a visit visa.

Passport type matters
Diplomatic, official and service passports are exempt; ordinary ones are not.
Tajikistan appears on ICA’s list of countries whose travel documents need a visa. In practice that means a Tajik citizen planning to spend days in Singapore, whether to see the city, attend a conference or call on relatives, should hold an approved visa before boarding.
ICA makes an exception by passport category rather than by person. Its Tajikistan page states that holders of diplomatic, official and service passports do not need a visa. Everyone travelling on an ordinary passport, which covers most tourists, students on holiday and people in private business, follows the visa process on this page.
There is also a second, separate arrangement that is easy to misread. ICA counts Tajikistan among the Commonwealth of Independent States nationalities that may use its 96-hour Visa-Free Transit Facility, known as VFTF. It is designed for people passing through Singapore on the way to or from a third country, it has conditions of its own, and it is never a general visa waiver. We explain it fully further down.
A useful test: if Singapore is the destination, plan for a visa. If Singapore sits between two other countries on a single journey and you will leave by air within 96 hours, read the transit section before deciding, and still be prepared for ICA officers to make the final call on entry.
Our part is practical. We check the file, align the details across forms and bookings, and lodge the application through a channel ICA accepts. ICA alone decides the visa, and its officers decide entry at the checkpoint.
We look at your route and tell you plainly whether you are planning a visit or a stopover.
Latin spellings on tickets and bookings are matched to the passport before anything is filed.
Records in Tajik or Russian are flagged so that only those documents go for translation.
We submit the completed application and send you ICA’s outcome by email.
Settle the purpose of the trip first. Once it is clear that you need a visit visa, the rest of the file is straightforward to assemble.
Below, ICA’s Tajikistan guidance is applied to some typical situations. The examples explain the published rules; they do not predict how any application will be decided.
Anyone travelling on an ordinary passport issued by Tajikistan needs a visa for a visit, and the document steps below apply in full.
A residence permit in Russia, Kazakhstan, Türkiye or elsewhere changes where you might file, not whether a visa is needed for a Tajikistan-issued passport.
ICA exempts these three categories from the visa requirement. Entry is still decided at the checkpoint.
A connection between two other countries may fall under the airside transit rules or, if you leave the airport, under the 96-hour VFTF conditions.
This page uses “Tajik citizens” to mean holders of passports issued by Tajikistan. If your passport comes from Uzbekistan or elsewhere, that country’s rules apply instead.
Our standards exist to make the file consistent and easy to assess. They carry no weight in ICA’s decision, and nothing we do can guarantee a visa or admission.
The core list below follows ICA’s Tajikistan page. Items ICA may ask for come next, then the arrangements we require as an agency.
ICA requirement
Form 14A is the application form itself, and ICA assesses the visa on what you declare in it. Fill in every field, sign it, and keep the signed copy, because ICA can ask to see it.
Enter your names exactly as they appear in the Latin-script field of your passport, not as you would spell them in Tajik Cyrillic.
ICA requirement
One recent passport-sized photograph in colour, taken within the past three months and meeting ICA’s photo guidelines. An older photo from a previous application will not do.
ICA requirement
A clear photocopy of the page with your photograph and personal details. The passport must still be valid six months after the day you plan to enter Singapore.
Case by case · ICA may request
On the Tajikistan page, ICA lists Form V39A among additional documents that may be required case by case. It is not part of the standard list for Tajik applicants, so you do not need to obtain one in advance unless it is requested.
If ICA does ask for it, we will tell you who can sign it at that point. Its Tajikistan page sets no signatory rules of its own, so we do not borrow rules from other nationalities’ pages.
Conditional · ICA rule for non-English records
Supporting papers from Tajikistan are often in Tajik, Russian or both. Any document not in English must be submitted as the original, an official English translation and a copy for ICA to keep.
For a record issued in Tajikistan, ICA accepts a translation made by the Embassy of Tajikistan, one made by a notary public in Tajikistan or Singapore, or a private translation that the embassy has attested or such a notary has notarised. ICA does not endorse any private translation company.
Case by case · ICA may request
ICA may ask for more documents in an individual case, and an application with insufficient documentation may not be accepted. Anything extra that is not in English needs the same translation treatment.
Our submission standard
For a visit, we ask to see three or more nights reserved in a hotel holding a rating of three stars or above, together with confirmed travel into and out of Singapore. A stay with friends or in a rented flat does not replace the hotel booking under our standard.
Sample images of a correct passport data page and photograph are on our requirements page.

Our service estimates run from the moment your complete file reaches us. ICA’s processing is a separate stage that begins after submission. Neither one promises a decision date.
Our estimate
5–7 working days
Suits most trips booked a few weeks ahead with documents already in English or translated.
Our estimate
3–5 days
Our side moves faster for a higher price, but ICA’s own timetable is unchanged.
Three working days, not counting the day of submission. Some applications take longer, and each is considered on its own merits.
Official translations of Tajik or Russian records depend on a translator or notary, so arrange them early.
ICA advises applying within 30 days before you arrive, which is easiest when your bookings are already fixed.
ICA recognises two routes: online submission through its e-Service by a strategic partner or a local contact in Singapore, or an application at the nearest Singapore Overseas Mission or through its authorised visa agent, following that mission’s own procedure. Visa applications are not accepted at the immigration counters. With us, the steps are:
Step 1
If Singapore is your destination, you need a visa. If it is only a stopover, check the VFTF and airside rules first.
Step 2
Confirm it is an ordinary Tajik passport with six months of validity beyond your arrival date.
Step 3
Collect the photo, data-page copy and supporting papers; send Tajik or Russian records for accepted translation.
Step 4
Use the passport’s Latin spellings and dates, then sign the form.
Step 5
We check everything against the passport and list any corrections; payment follows for your entry type and service speed.
Step 6
We submit the application. If it is approved, the e-Visa can be printed from ICA’s e-Service by the party that filed it.
Carry a printed e-Visa and your passport on the trip, and keep a digital copy of both.
Apply OnlineICA sets the six-month validity rule and the three-month photo rule. The extra checks below are our own.
ICA requirement
Count six months forward from the day you will land in Singapore; your passport’s expiry date must fall after that point.
Copy the full data page, including the photograph and the two machine-readable lines at the bottom, without glare or cropping.
Romanising Tajik is not standardised across every system: ҷ may appear as j or dzh, ҳ as h or kh, ӯ as u or ū. The passport’s Latin field settles the question, so copy it letter for letter throughout the application.
ICA requirement
A colour photograph in passport format, taken within the last three months and following ICA’s photo guidelines, which forbid any alteration or enhancement. We also look for:
Tajik travellers have more than one way through Singapore, and each has its own rules. The cards below keep a visit visa, a visa-free transit and an airside connection apart.
ICA treats an approved visa as permission to travel to Singapore and ask for entry. It is not an immigration pass, and officers at the checkpoint decide whether to admit you.
The period you may stay comes from the electronic Visit Pass that ICA issues at the checkpoint and emails to you. It is not tied to how long the visa itself remains valid.
ICA says CIS nationals, Tajik citizens included, may be eligible if they are in transit to or from a third country and hold a valid onward air ticket leaving Singapore within 96 hours. You may arrive by any means but must leave by air.
Eligibility is not automatic. Travellers must also meet the prevailing entry requirements, ICA officers assess entry at the checkpoint, and a stay under the VFTF cannot be extended.
ICA describes transit travellers as people who connect without clearing arrival immigration. If your airline makes you collect bags or check in again, you will pass immigration and must meet entry requirements.
A visitor admitted with a visa who wants to stay longer applies to ICA to extend the Short-Term Visit Pass. That is a separate request from the visa.
ICA treats each family member as an individual applicant, so a family trip means several parallel files that should tell one consistent story.
Babies and teenagers alike need their own travel document, because ICA does not accept collective documents for anyone.
Each parent and child has a separate application and is charged a separate applicant price.
Family members’ surnames are not always formed the same way, for instance one with a Russian-style ending and another with a Tajik one. We check that birth certificates and translations link everyone clearly.
Flights and hotel dates should be identical across the family’s applications unless someone genuinely travels separately.
These are the issues our review is designed to catch before submission. ICA assesses each application on its own merits; this list is about getting the file right, not about predicting the outcome.
The VFTF covers a genuine stopover between other countries within 96 hours, not a holiday whose destination is Singapore.
A ticket spelled from the Russian form of a name and a passport spelled from the Tajik form can look like two people. Use the passport spelling.
Russian is not English, so a Russian-language certificate needs an accepted translation just as a Tajik one does.
The six months are counted from your entry into Singapore, not from the date you apply.
Only the diplomatic, official or service passport holder is exempt. A spouse or child on an ordinary passport still needs a visa.
ICA wants copies it can keep, in addition to the originals and translations.
A summary of how cancellation and refunds work for tourist visa applications; the Refund Policy page sets out the full terms.
Before submission to ICA
If you cancel before we submit your application to ICA, a cancellation fee of USD $50 applies per applicant and application.
The fee is deducted from the amount you paid, and the remaining eligible amount is refunded, subject to applicable law.
After submission to ICA
After submission to ICA, the paid visa service fee is non-refundable, subject to applicable law.
A refusal does not by itself make a submitted application refundable.
If you believe a payment was duplicated or charged incorrectly, contact us so that we can review it. Legally required refunds and billing errors are handled separately.
Nothing in these rules limits statutory consumer rights that cannot be waived.
Brief answers. Each one says whether it comes from ICA’s guidance or from our own practice.
Yes, if it is an ordinary passport. ICA’s Tajikistan page requires a visa for Tajikistan-issued travel documents and exempts only diplomatic, official and service passports.
Not if Singapore is the point of the trip. ICA describes the VFTF for travellers in transit to or from a third country, with a valid onward air ticket departing within 96 hours. A visit to Singapore itself calls for a visa.
No. ICA states that transit travellers must also meet the prevailing entry requirements and that its officers assess entry at the checkpoint. A stay under the facility cannot be extended.
For CIS nationals, ICA’s page says you may enter by any mode of transport but must depart Singapore by air, with an onward air ticket.
ICA treats people who connect without clearing arrival immigration as transit travellers and sets no specific requirements for them. Check with your airline whether your connection lets you stay airside.
Not as a standard step. ICA’s Tajikistan page lists Form V39A as a document that may be required case by case. If it is requested for your application, we will explain what is needed then.
Yes. ICA’s translation rule covers every document not in English. For a Tajikistan-issued record, ICA accepts a translation by the Embassy of Tajikistan or by a notary public in Tajikistan or Singapore, or a private translation that one of them has attested or notarised.
As our practice, we ask you to correct it. The application and bookings should use the Latin spelling printed in the passport so that the records clearly belong to one person.
Your passport, not your residence, decides the requirement. You can have the application filed online by a strategic partner or local contact, or use the Singapore Overseas Mission that serves your area or its authorised agent.
ICA publishes a guide of three working days after the submission day, adding that some applications need more time. Our normal and express figures describe only our stage.
Yes, whenever you clear immigration. The SG Arrival Card is free, is not a visa, and is submitted within three days before arrival, counting the arrival day. Travellers who stay airside without clearing immigration do not submit one.
Before submission to ICA, a USD $50 cancellation fee applies per applicant and application, and the remaining eligible amount is refunded, subject to applicable law. After submission, the paid visa service fee is non-refundable, subject to applicable law.
Confirm that Singapore is your destination rather than a stopover, check your passport type and expiry, arrange translations of Tajik or Russian records, and review our prices and estimates.
